State and federal regulation enforcement businesses educated Tuesday, December 13, on tips on how to reply successfully to an emergency aboard a state ferry in Hatteras Inlet.
The coaching included a simulation of the regulation enforcement and emergency response to an energetic shooter incident, in addition to treating victims of a mass casualty incident. Tuesday’s coaching, which was carried out aboard the M/V Frisco, was a part of a collection of required trainings geared toward making certain emergency response groups know tips on how to conduct a coordinated and well timed response to a serious incident on a ferry. An analogous coaching train was held on the Neuse River in October.
Collaborating within the coaching have been officers with the U.S. Coast Guard, North Carolina State Freeway Patrol, the N.C. Division of Transportation’s Ferry Division, the N.C. Wildlife Assets Fee and the N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries.
There have been no passengers aboard the ferry and there was no interruption to ferry operations.
